ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -- Emergency dispatchers in Anderson County are moving to a new facility.
On Tuesday night, the Anderson County Council approved moving the 911 communications system out of the dispatch center on South Towers Street. The new facility is near the Anderson Regional Airport.The current dispatch center has been hit by lightning three times in the past eight years. The most recent strike happened July 4, damaging the phone system and computers.Councilwoman Cindy Wilson told News 4 the county is getting more than $3 million from the state Insurance Reserve Fund to replace the damaged equipment.There was no word when the official move to the new facility will happen.Source: http://www.wyff4.com/r/29469111/detail.html
