Point Pleasant Sunbather Run Over by Driver Moving into Apartment

 A woman moving into her new Borden Avenue apartment drove over another tenant who was sunbathing on the lawn of the complex, borough police reported.

Lori Rossi, 44, who was moving into an apartment in the 1100 block of Borden Avenue, drove a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban onto a grassy area surrounding the apartment complex and was making a turn around the corner of the building when she drove over a 49-year-old woman who was laying on a blanket sunbathing on the ground, according to Capt. Richard P. Larsen of the Point Pleasant police.

The woman sustained injuries to her ribs and face and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, but her condition is not known, Larsen said. He declined to release the victim’s identity.

Rossi was issued a citation for reckless driving by Corp. Steven Savoie.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene, Larsen said.
