Many Long Islanders may know of this news item, yet others earth-wide are unaware what was done to a little, black kitten on June 8th. The nine weeks old male kitten was tossed out of the window of a moving auto in Amityville, New York. Of hearing of this vicious act of animal cruelty Tuesday night (6/28) on News 12 Long Island I was much disturbed. The feeling is mutual with local authorities whom are seeking the person responsible for the sadistic act. Suffolk County law enforcement are offering an $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of those involved in this violation. I am unsure if the car passenger or the driver himself did this offense and how many persons were inside that auto.
With broken legs and other injures the kitten survived and was treated by Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). This bandaged, recovering, dark-haired creature is being cared for by a foster family. They gave him the name of Beetle. Officials hope the now 12-weeks old kitten will be adopted in near time. Nonetheless police and the SPCA are determined to locate the kitten thrower as soon possible. That individual is facing charges of animal cruelty and some, deserved jail time.
