Toyota is moving more quickly to prevent its latest recall from becoming a full-blown crisis, Vivek Vaidya at research group Frost & Sullivan has told the BBC.
On Wednesday, the carmaker announced the recall of more than 110,000 hybrid vehicles over concerns about a problem with the power supply circuit.
Mr Vaidya said quality control issues due to rapid expansion over the past three to four years were part of the reason why the company had been forced to recall so many cars in the past 18 months.
He added that Toyota was likely to lose its crown as the world's biggest carmaker this year, probably to General Motors.
