BOY INJURED JUMPING FROM MOVING FAIR RIDE - WBALTV NEWS
BALTIMORE -- A 9-year-old boy was injured at the Maryland State Fair over the weekend when he tried to jump from a ride.The fair's coordinator of emergency services said the child was injured on Saturday as he tried to get off a swing ride that was still moving.The official said family members convinced the boy to go on, but when the ride started, he decided to unstrap himself and jump.The boy was taken to the pediatric intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital.The boy reportedly suffered some scrapes and bruises but was not seriously injured. He was released from the hospital Sunday.Fair officials said the ride was inspected and deemed safe.Meanwhile, wet weather consumed the last night of the fair. Organizers said they were hoping to make up lost revenue as a result of Hurricane Irene last weekend.
