Moving Extraordinary Value Items

Congrats, for you've accumulated a high-priced group of collectibles. But with your impending move comes the perils of owning high-priced possessions. Knowing how moving companies treat expensive collectibles will make your move an easy one!

Moving extraordinary value items
Moving companies treat items worth more than $100 per pound differently, classifying them as 'extraordinary value items.' Your two options for moving these are as follows:
Option #1: Moving extraordinary value items by yourself.
The safest way to move these high-priced items is to bring them with you during your move. Your mover cannot lose, break or steal these items if they are solely in your possession throughout the entire move. However, you'll now be responsible for making sure these items find their destination without being broken.
Option #2: Using a moving company
Prior to getting a moving quote, you'll need to inventory such items so they can be included on your moving estimate. Moving companies will have a special 'High Value Inventory Form' for you to complete.
Your moving company will insure these items for the price you've written on the form. Much like insurance, the higher the price listed is the higher the price of the insurance (factored into the total moving quote).
