The Moving Wall comes to Garden Grove

October 05, 2011|By DEEPA BHARATH
GARDEN GROVE – City officials hope the arrival of The Moving Wall, the original half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in the nation's capital, will make the community proud of the 41 Garden Grove residents who died fighting the war.
The city is also hoping to get residents excited about a proposed Vietnam War Museum where they hope to also build a memorial to the "Garden Grove 41." The memorial wall in Washington, D.C. is dedicated to the 58,267 American casualties of the Vietnam War.
The Moving Wall is expected to be brought in by a convoy of police and fire officials Thursday afternoon to Garden Grove Park. It will then be set up and opened to the public at 5:30 p.m. when the opening ceremonies will take place. The Moving Wall will remain at the park, open to visitors 24 hours a day, through 4 p.m. Monday. The Moving Wall was displayed in Dana Point in May and in Orange in June.
