EMANUEL’S RENTERS MOVE OUT OF NORTH SIDE HOME - CHICAGO TRIBUNE NEWS

Rob Halpin, the former mayoral candidate and tenant of the current mayor's home, is moving out of the house on the North Side.

"We are moving," Halpin's wife Lori said this morning when asked about the moving trucks outside the home in the 4200 block of North Hermitage Avenue.

The trucks drove off at about 12:40 p.m., and Rob Halpin was seen driving away from the block just after 2 p.m.

According to their rental agreement with
Rahm Emanuel, the Halpins have the house until the end of the month. Lori Halpin said they will turn it over then, after it has been cleaned.

Lori Halpin declined to say where the couple planned to move. "All I can confirm is that the moving trucks are here," she said.

Rob Halpin stirred controversy last year when he refused to end his lease early after Emanuel announced he was returning to Chicago to run for mayor.

Emanuel's residency became a hot campaign topic when opponents argued he wasn't eligible to be mayor because he hadn't lived in Chicago for the months he served as
President Barack Obama's chief of staff. He quit the post and returned to the city in October 2010.
