The News Eagle is moving!
The newspaper offices are being relocated from Main Avenue in Hawley to the Hawley Silk Mill, effective Tuesday, June 28.
As of that date the mailing address will be The News Eagle, 8 Silk Mill Drive Suite 101, Hawley, PA 18428.
While the phone number (226-4547) and fax number (226-4548) will remain the same, please note that due to the moving process, the phone and fax lines will not be in operation between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 28.
A prime location was secured at the Hawley Silk Mill, on the first floor to the immediate left from the main entrance. The News Eagle will also have its own outside entrance door.
Relocating to the Hawley Silk Mill was seen as both advantageous from a lease standpoint and in obtaining a more efficient operating space. The current location has proved larger than is needed for the six staff persons stationed at Hawley. In recent years, some functions of producing The News Eagle have been consolidated with the offices at The Wayne Independent in Honesdale.
The News Eagle and The Wayne Independent are both part of the GateHouse Media family of newspapers. Together with two other GateHouse papers, The Carbondale News and The Villager (Moscow, Pa.), these four newspapers come under the same publisher, Michelle Hessling. Main offices are at The Wayne Independent.
The News Eagle was established in Hawley in the mid-1960’s by John C. Dyson, Jr., combining the former Pike-Wayne Eagle of Hawley and Wayne County Citizen of Honesdale, as well as a weekly formerly published in Narrowsburg.
The newspaper was located at 522 Spring Street until moving to The Dime Bank building on Main Avenue seven years ago, on June 1, 2004.
