A well-defined tropical wave is moving west through the Cape Verde Islands, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday in its 8 p.m. advisory.
Satellite imagery shows a distinguishable low-level cyclonic flow, but the wave is embedded within a larger rain storm. Most of the strongest storm activity is south of Cape Verde, the hurricane center said.
Meanwhile, a large tropical wave is passing over Puerto Rico and Hispaniola, moving west at 15 to 20 mph. It is expected to continue on that path for the next couple days.
In the North Atlantic, Tropical Storm Gert degenerated into a "post tropical low" and the hurricane center issued its last advisory on the system at 5 p.m. Tuesday. It was 750 miles northeast of Bermuda.
