Move Over MyPhone and Cherry Mobile. A new telecom's in Town! - Techie News

Heads up, Techies! It looks like the local mobile phone market is about to get more crowded interesting. A  new kid is in town and its called Olive Telecom. It's out to directly challenge the likes of MyPhone, Torque  and Cherry Mobile in the affordable dual-SIM handset arena while keeping in step with the big boys like Nokia and Samsung .
Here's a bit of a backgrounder. Olive Telecom is an Indian-based handset company which specializes in making cheap, dual-SIM phones. Yep, that's more choices for local, cash-strapped geeks. But that doesn't mean it only offers entry-level devices. A quick browse on its website will reveal that it also has touchscreen Androids and even a tablet. Not bad! The company has been around  since 2006 and already sold over 20 million devices worldwide, which shows us it has the experience to play in Pinoy  market.
A unique point about Olive Telecom, as opposed to other low-end handset makers, do not outsource its products from OEMs (original equipment manufacturer) in China. But instead, has invested quite a bit: it has its own research and development facility with four innovation labs in the land of Great Wall and in India, says Janis Nathalie Legaspi-Racpan, Olive Telcom country manager.
Another claim to fame, Olive also introduced the world's first QWERTY triple-SIM handset. As for its local offerings, Olive Telecom will be coming out with no less than seven handsets for the masses. Although we don't know yet the exact prices of each, we're told that the price range is from P1,500 to P4,000 for the devices. Cheap? Check! Definitely good news!
Olive Telecom's entry will hopefully put more options on the local handset market. As they say, competition breeds innovation (and hopefully, lower prices, too).
