The accident happened at 5:45 a.m. north of Exit 2, Route 120. The truck was labeled as belonging to Expert Movers LLC of Danbury, Conn. It was loaded with household goods, including kitchen supplies and a mattress.
The truck initially blocked all three southbound lanes and traffic got by only on the shoulder. Officials quickly opened one lane. Two lanes were opened by 9:15 a.m., and the truck was finally cleared and all lanes reopened by 10:45 a.m.
Morning rush traffic backed up almost to Exit 4. And the Exit 3 entrance to southbound I-684 was closed while police and firefighters worked to clear the truck.
