RHIAN RAMOS is one of the three female co-hosts of Manny Pacquiao in his new game show on GMA-7 titled "Manny Many Prizes" that airs this Saturday, July 16, at 6 p.m.
The other female co-hosts are Isabelle Daza and Gladys Guevarra with Paolo Contis and Onyok Velasco as male counterparts.
Is it possible for her to fall for someone like Manny since she has a history of "going out" with not so tall guys like JC De Vera and DJ Mo? "Oo nga, noh? Nasa profile ko, di ba?" she laughed. "But feeling ko ‘di mangyayari ‘yun kasi he’s married, noh? Close friends lang kami sa kulitan."
Is it true that she and Mo are close again and they keep in touch everyday? "That’s not true. Maling-mali ‘yun. We only talked noong inaayos namin ‘yung gusot sa amin. After my concerns have been addressed, we never talk again."
What can she say about Mo undergoing therapy? "It’s great. Sa States, natural lang ‘yun to see a therapist when you want to sort things out. I also went to one. Every week ‘yun. I need to fix some things for myself. It helped me to master the art of not holding grudges. I focus myself in doing positive things."
KEAN CIPRIANO is happy that his first movie is with Eugene Domingo. In the Cinemalaya entry "Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank," Kean plays a young director who dreams of making a film with Eugene that will win an award in the Oscars. "Masarap ka-trabaho si Uge," he said.
In what way? "Sa kahit anong aspeto okay. I just auditioned for this role without expecting na makukuha ko ito, and next thing I knew, I’m already a part of it."
So, is he focusing now on acting rather than singing? "I’m just in the process of discovering the art of acting and I‘m enjoying it. I took acting workshops with direk Leo Martinez at ang laki ng tulong nun sa akin para maging maayos ang acting ko."
"I realized that you have to be a good person first to be a good actor. Pero first priority ko pa rin ang music. I’ve never left my band Callalily like what others think. I spend my weekends sa band pa rin. We’re now doing a tour and making a new album." On TV, he’s part of TV5’s series "Magic Bagsik" and "Sugo Mga Kapatid." Both his exes, Danita Paner and Arci Munoz are also Kapatid stars like him. "It’s really funny that we’re all together in one station. Pero okay na kami lahat and I’m happy to work with them."
RICHARD GUTIERREZ did not expect the warm reception he received from people of Tacloban City when he joined their Sangyaw Festival last week.
They called him "Captain Barbell" and said that they are watching his show regularly.
Richard is now preparing for the second edition of "Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown" that will be taped in an unidentified island in October.
Yes, Richard has agreed to host the show again just like the first one, which was a big hit. Meanwhile, catch the upcoming episodes of "Captain Barbell" with new characters on GMA-7. Akihiro Sato plays Marc Torres, who becomes the Black Captain Barbell created by Nero (Christopher de Leon) and Eva (Stef Prescott). Black Captain Barbell will use his powers for evil purposes. He’ll be joined by Daiana Menezes as Chloe Morales and Maxene Magalona as Dalisay, a water nymph called Lady Seahorse, who steals the powerful magic plate of Captain Barbell.
SUSAN ROCES fans will be pleased to know that right after her TV series "Babaeng Hampaslupa" ends next week, TV5 is giving her another dramaserye. This time, she will co-star with Lorna Tolentino. Their taping will start after Lorna finishes her current soap with ABS-CBN, "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin."
Meanwhile, the final episodes of "Babaeng Hampaslupa" will surely excite those who have been following it for the past five months. Alice Dixson as Diana will try everything to free Alex Gonzaga as Grace, who is held captive by Wendell Ramos as Harry. Bing Loyzaga as the evil Katarina will also get hold of Alex and will imprison her in a boat. Joross Gamboa is unmasked as a drug lord and Susan Roces as Helena regains control of their family business.
EDGAR ALLAN GUZMAN is in the news lately after his girlfriend of two years, SexBomb dancer Johlan Veluz, broke up with him. It was also reported that he is now seeing "Wiltime Big Time" dancer Milagring. "Naku, ayoko ng pag-usapan ‘yan at lumalaki pa," he said. "Okay na kami ni Johlan at nag-sorry na ko sa kanya. Friends lang kami ni Milagring."
Edgar plays a challenging role in Jeffrey Jeturian’s Cinemalaya entry, "Bisperas," that is about a family, whose house was ransacked on Christmas Eve.
"I’m the youngest child of Tirso Cruz III and Raquel Villavicencio. Ako rin ang only son and I turned out to be a gay pero di ko masabi sa kanila. I played a flaming queen sa ‘Lady Gaga’ ni Ryan Agoncillo on TV before, pero iba ito kasi closet gay naman ako rito. Ang highlight ko rito is yung away namin ng ate ko, si Julia Clarete. Direk Jeffrey said totohanin namin, so murahan talaga at binato niya ko ng libro at tinamaan ako."
"It’s good na nakasama ko na noon si Ate Julia way back sa Mr. Pogi ng ‘Eat Bulaga’ where I won, kaya comfortable na kami sa isa’t-isa. Nalilinya ako ngayon sa gay roles. Gay friend din ako ni Nadine Samonte sa ‘The Sisters’ ng TV5," he noted.
"I have another Cinemalaya entry, ‘Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me,’ pero lalaki naman ako dun and I have love scenes with my leading lady, Mercedes Cabral."
