The National Weather Service around 3 p.m. today detected scattered thunderstorms moving across Harrison and Jackson counties with storms moving southwest at 10 mph.
The thunderstorms primarily will occur in areas north of Interstate 10 and will include frequent lightning. People in those areas are advised to stay away from windows and doors and avoid talking on land-based telephone lines during a storm.
The storms may produce wind gusts of up to 35 mph.
