TYPHOON MINA MOVING TOWARDS TAIWAN - ABS CBN NEWS

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Typhoon “Mina” will continue to pour rains even as it continues its direction out of the country and towards Taiwan.
Based on the 5:00 p.m. report of weather bureau PAGASA, typhoon Mina was moving northwest at 9 kilometers per hour (kph). It was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
Signal 3 remains hoisted over the Batanes Group of Islands, while Signal 2 is over Ilocos Norte and Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands.
Signal 1, on the other hand, is hoisted over the rest of Northern Cagayan, Apayao, Abra and Ilocos Sur.
The typhoon is expected to move out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Tuesday.
Nonetheless, the typhoon is still pulling the force of the southwest monsoon over the country, especially in the western section of Northern Cagayan.
In a press conference, PAGASA said Ipo Dam has opened one gate to bring down the water level; Ambuklao Dam opened 4 gates; Binga with 8 gates; and Magat with one gate.
PAGASA acting administrator Nathaniel Servando said the country should still expect at least 8 tropical cyclones within the year.
