Couple Who Called 911 From Corn Maze Embarrassed, Moving On - The Boston Channel News

A family that called 911 when they got lost inside a Danvers corn maze spoke out Thursday and said after being in the national spotlight, they're ready to move on.
"I was pretty embarrassed by it. I didn't want to leave my house or anything like that, but now it's like, 'Hey it happened. My kids are safe. We're all safe. Let's take a laugh at it,'" Stefania Santiago said.The family called 911 from the corn maze."I'm really scared. It's really dark, and we've got a 3-week-old baby with us," she said to the 911 operator."Just relax, calm down, your husband is with you right?" the dispatcher said."Yes, but my baby!" Stefania Santiago said.She said her son was getting upset; her daughter had to be changed."We had no more formula," Stefania Santiago said.The Santiagos called Connors Farm, but they said when no one answered, they turned to police."Even though my husband said, 'Don't call. Don't call. We can figure it out,' I still had to call just for the safety of my children," Stefania Santiago said.Her husband didn't resist the directions from the 911 operator, but he said it was the ribbing he knew he'd get if anyone found out they needed to get rescued 25 feet inside a corn maze."We were on 'Jay Leno,' 'Good Morning America' and all that stuff. I was like great, I don't think I want to go into work," Roberto Santiago said.Now, the family says their 15 minutes of fame are over, and they're ready to move on."We do want to go and see where we went wrong, but we'll go back in the daytime," Stefania Santiago said.
