DOMINION MOVING AHEAD ON ELECTRIC VEHICLE PROGRAM - YAHOO NEWS

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Dominion Virginia Power is moving forward with a pricing program for residential customers who own or lease plug-in electric vehicles.
The Richmond-based energy provider says the program would offer reduced rates for overnight charging and higher rates during peak times.
For example, customers could pay as little as 41 cents to charge an electric vehicle overnight for a 40-mile commute.
Dominion anticipates that by 2020 more than 86,000 electric vehicles will be on the road in its service area. It has about 2.4 million customers in Virginia.
The pricing program could apply only to charging the car, or for all of a customer's electric use.
Virginia regulators approved the program on July 11 and interested customers can sign up beginning Oct. 3.
The pilot program will end in November 2014.
