If you’ve got outside activities planned for the day, you could be dodging the raindrops — there’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today for the Las Vegas Valley, according to the National Weather Service.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected today, especially this afternoon and evening for the region, the weather service said. The main threat will be localized flash flooding from heavy rain, forecasters said.
Temperatures will be cooler today, with highs around 91 degrees on the west side of the valley and around 100 on the east side, they said.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected again Sunday and Monday, with the main threat continuing to be flash flooding, they said.
Thunderstorm chances will decrease Tuesday and Wednesday as drier air moves in, they said.
Scattered rain fell throughout the valley on Friday, including a trace of rain that was recorded at McCarran International Airport.
At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran was 88 degrees. The normal low for today’s date is 79 degrees. The record low was 64 degrees, set in 1941.
Around the valley just before 6 a.m., temperatures were 86 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 88 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 86 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.
Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 92 degrees by 9 a.m., to 96 degrees by noon and reach a high of 98 degrees by 2 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today’s date is 104 degrees and the record high was 114 degrees, set in 1978 and 1977.
Temperatures are expected to drop to 97 degrees by 6 p.m., to 95 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 90 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.
Sunday’s morning low will be 84 degrees and Sunday’s high will climb to 97 degrees, they said.
